Abstract: This study discusses a person-time generalized linear regression mixed model within a discrete-time survival analysis framework. The model serves as a tool to study the timing and progression of academic promotions in the Italian academia, and by incorporating random effects, to capture both the temporal dynamics of career advancement and the influence of key predictors. The model aims to assess whether there are gender-based differences in the timing of academic promotions within Italian universities.
